In Memory of Pat Mitchell
Courtney Mitchell is walking in RIP.ie Remembers to celebrate the memory of Pat Mitchell, while raising funds for St. Francis Hospice.
My dad, Pat Mitchell, was diagnosed with ALS (motor neurone disease) in 2019. ALS is a terminal illness that gradually takes away the ability to move, speak, eat and breathe, while the mind remains strong. My dad faced this disease with courage and resilience for three years.
From early on, St Francis Hospice Raheny supported my dad and our family, providing comfort, guidance and care even while he was still at home. As ALS progressed, the hospice continued to be a constant source of support. For the final three months of his life, St Francis Hospice became his home, where he was cared for with exceptional compassion, dignity and respect.
The hospice team supported my dad through the physical and emotional challenges of ALS, while also caring for our family during an incredibly difficult time. Pat passed away on the 29th of June 2022. This fundraiser is held in his memory, with proceeds going to St Francis Hospice Raheny, in gratitude for the care they provided both at home and during his final months.
Donations will help ensure that others living with ALS and other life-limiting illnesses receive the same comfort, dignity and kindness that meant so much to our family.
Thank you,
Courtney & Gwen x
