Gwen & Courtney Mitchell's Team Fundraising
We are raising funds in memory of our beloved husband and dad, Pat Mitchell, who was diagnosed with ALS (motor neurone disease) in 2019. ALS is a devastating terminal illness that gradually affects movement, speech, eating and breathing, while the person remains mentally present and fully themselves. Pat faced this disease with immense courage and dignity until his passing on the 30th of June 2022.
From early in Pat’s illness, St Francis Hospice, Raheny supported him and our family, providing comfort and care even while he was still at home. As his condition progressed, their support became essential. For the final three months of his life, St Francis Hospice became his home, where he was cared for with compassion, dignity and respect. All funds raised will go directly to St Francis Hospice, Raheny, in gratitude for the exceptional care they provided and to help ensure that other families receive the same comfort and support during the most difficult times of their lives.

About RIP.ie Remembers
RIP.ie is a trusted platform that brings compassionate communities
together in times of loss, and in 2026 we proudly celebrate our 20th year. To
mark this milestone, we’re inviting our community to take part in a meaningful
nationwide event — a 20km walk during March 2026. This shared journey offers an
opportunity to honour loved ones, support local charities, and celebrate the
strength of community. By turning remembrance into a real-world experience,
shared grief becomes shared purpose, fostering healing and unity. For every
charity registrant, a square foot of native woodland will be planted, creating
a living legacy of remembrance.
